Ah - the owners of those happy feet, one presumes. Must have been a ball. (Oh, so it was in fact!)
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with the costumes! Where was the ball held - on the grounds of the Palace? What costume did you wear?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! who goes to these balls? Were you there in costume? Do they rent these amazing outfits?
ReplyDeleteThe sun in the first picture is so great! It seems that if the gate is open everybody will be personally greeted by the sun...
ReplyDeleteGreat capture!
Cezar
Beautiful looking costumes.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Did you participate?
ReplyDeleteWhat sumptuous costumes!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I like especially the first one - this gate in the sun rays looks like a gate to another world:)
ReplyDeleteThese could be frames from Sofia Coppola's 'Marie Antoinette'! :-)
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Love these "period" shots.
ReplyDeleteThose costumes are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDid you get to dress up? I've always wanted to wear one of these gorgeous dresses and have my hair done. They were so fashionable! I love to watch Marie Antoinette because of the costumes!

@ all: no, I didn't dress up and didn't participate. Not my crowd plus I would be more into older history than that of Versailles. I suppose it could have been fun. The ball wasn't held at the palace but the gates were the meeting point.
Ooh, I really like the shot of the costumes. Very artsy and it captures the mood of the moment perfectly. The sunburst in the top shot is also quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am very glad we are not expected to dress like that any more. it may have looked elegant but imagine the dry cleaning bills today.
ReplyDeleteDon't shoot me but I prefer jeans. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHehe - it seems to be that you have moved to the XVII century, but please, be back:)
ReplyDeleteStunning first photo, superb light composition.
This is the type of bal I'd like to attend:)
ReplyDeletewow! what fun! :) I wonder where they get their costumes? And especially those shoes!
