This theme day has been hard what with being away and then this last week with the weather playing foul: the sun was shining while I was at the office while it poured with rain when I wasn't! So, ladies, if you come to visit the palace, do wear sensible shoes and keep the stilettos for evenings! This photo was taken in the outer courtyard of the palace. Happy Labour Day to a lot of you out there!

Dear Ciel!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the advice! For sure I will be prepared with some comfortable shoes in my try to Versailles! :-)
You are so clever and nice!
Great post!
Have a perfect weekend! My family and I are going to take some time out, travelling a little bit and I won't be able to visit blog's friends ( for internet reasons ). See you next week okay!
Take care!
Léia
I always look forward to your blog, you always have something interesting....Barb
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, Ceil!
ReplyDeleteI probably would have seen this myself, but I was cobblestoned!
OMGosh can you imagine walking over that with any type of a heel!! Interesting to look at, deadly to walk over!
ReplyDeletesuch beautiful stone work and lighting. great capture for theme day. and no I would not want to wear high heels and walk on these stones
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shadows...very atmospheric. I love old cobbled pavements and courtyards...we don't have aby in Calgary!
ReplyDeleteNice photo. Love the texture of the stone. Good choice for the theme day.
ReplyDeleteWeather conditions often thwart our efforts. You overcame mother nature very nicely. Good advice about the footwear -:) Happy May Day!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Ciel. Soft light and shadow play on the hard stone texure. Excellent choice for the theme today.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see light and shadow on these beautiful cobbles.
ReplyDeleteIl faut quitter le travail lorsqu'il fait trop beau urtout lorsqu'il y a un theme
ReplyDeleteThey may be hard on the feet, but they are beautiful on the eyes. I do like the shadow and the light coming through the gate and wall.
ReplyDeleteOui difficile de remplir le contrat dans ces conditions mais tu as réussi à capter des ombres fantômes, c'est rare les ombres bleues d'ordinaire on ne les trouve qu'en montagne !
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Great composition!
ReplyDeleteNice addition to theme day. Have a great weekend and I hope you see more sun (and shadows).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful. Love the cobblestones and yes, I've got the right shoes. Always a priority with me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Sam. I'll leave my stilettos at home when I visit. Nice photo, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI definitely wouldn't want to wear heels walking here! This photo is lovely - I love the bluish color. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteLove the pavement! Cool shot!
ReplyDeleteAwfully good - a glow of blue in the shade over the cobbles makes a very sublime photo.
ReplyDeletePS:
Q: I would love to know what's at the top of the stairs.
A:This is the way up to the University Church and the Old Town.
Ciel, your advice is wise regardless of if cobblestones are what one is walking on ... although I have found that with the current financial challenges it appears high heels are more fashionable than ever ... I also found this theme a challenge and made my choice only a few hours before the deadline ... happy theme day.
ReplyDeleteYes sometimes the sun and clouds have plans of their own! Still you captured the light nicely on these wonderful cobblestones!
ReplyDeleteHi Ciel, you achieved a beautiful atmosphere over these great cobblestones. Thanks so much for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteLovely blue tones in these shadows.
ReplyDeleteWow, so many comments ! I don't know how you find time to keep two blogs going, and get out and comment on other blogs... I bet you wear running shoes and not high heels, as you advise against here.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, thanks for all your comments, I really appreciate your visits !!! Have a great weekend ...
Nice old cobblestones.
ReplyDeleteI love the delicate rays of sunlight bouncing off the cobbles. Very sensible advise about the shoes looking at the path.
ReplyDeleteI like this photo a LOT! The pattern in the stones, the shades of grey, the shadows... A very good one!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think this is gorgeous! So many shadows, so much texture in those old stones. Marvelous!
