Saturday at the palace entrance

The relentless flow: a typical sight at the entrance of the palace, taken a couple of weeks ago. This last Saturday was a very mild, beautiful day, so the same scene would have seen less coats and no hoods! The palace welcomes over 3 million visitors every year.

  7. Beautiful photograph! We were two of those tourists last year. The Paris museum pass was a great way to beat the queues.

  8. Isn't it the truth, Dusty Lens! That pass worked wonders for us in 2006. And we loved Versailles, not just the palace but the town as well.

Lovely photo, Cieldequimper! It reminds me of the thrill I felt as I stepped through the gates. I wonder if the rulers who lived there knew how privileged they were?

  9. That's a lot of visitors every year! It's wonderful for the local economy, though. I bet there are many eateries close by that do very well. ;-)

  14. Beautiful photos.. I didn't go when I was there in December because my friend didn't want to wait in line. I must take Dusty Lens's advice and get a Museum Pass on my next visit.

  20. Really like the composition here as well as the effect from highlighting the colors and contrasting the light and shadow in select places. Beautiful image, Sam!
